Haiti Charity Event
Report by Aimee Cook, 1st Degree
On Sunday 7th February 2010, Mr Jamaine Hemmings, the instructor of the Tooting Academy and Academy members, donated their time to a charity event raising funds for the Haiti earthquake appeal. The event hosted several martial arts and holistic taster sessions including Taekwon-Do, Kickboxing, Boxing, Boxfit, Yoga and Massages!
With the help of his students, Aimee Cook and Jey Thiru, Mr Hemmings delivered two classes to groups of eager to learn, potential students. The classes consisted of a quick warm up, bag work and stretching with some Korean counting thrown in!
All those that participated in the Taekwon-Do sessions enjoyed them thoroughly which will hopefully lead to some new members at the Tooting Academy.
Mr Hemmings and Jey got involved too. Jey tried his hand at kickboxing and boxing while Jamaine had a relaxing massage before his first teaching session.
The event closed with the awarding of the raffle prizes which included a pampering day voucher, cinema tickets, martial arts equipment and champagne.
All of the entry money was donated to aid effort for those affected by the Haiti earthquake appeal. Every penny raised will go direct to charity via the Red Cross Organisation.
