MWTA British Championships - Success!

Master Wolf's Taekwon-Do Academies (MWTA) proudly presented the MWTA British Championships, which was held on Saturday the 2nd of May, at the Hartsdown Leisure Centre, in Margate.

The main hall at Hartsdown was presented extremely well and looked very professional with 8-matted areas. The running of the tournament was second to none, with plenty of umpires and referees working throughout the day, Master Wolf and the Wolf Academy Instructors ran a very efficient days event.

The tournament included both pattern and sparring categories, and was open to colour belt and black belt competitors, both junior and senior. The competitors included members from other groups around the UK and Europe, and teams traveled from as far as Inverness in Scotland, and Belgium to take part in the event.
There were also divisions, which catered for children as young as 5-years old, which starred the MWTA Wolf Cub members.
The Wolf Cubs were inspirational, not only showing outstanding discipline and mature sportsmanship, but also great competitive spirit.
The Cubs ages range from 5 to 10-years. They displayed amazing talent in their sparring ability, and most shocked of all, were the parents of some of the children who could not believe that their child was capable of such intense focus, as well as mental and physical discipline.

The tournament finale was the amazing Team event, which upstaged even last years! This featured many of MWTA’s European and World Champions.
It was an incredible display of Taekwon-Do skills and with an amazing atmosphere generated by the crowd and the showmanship of the competitors, it was a spectacular event enjoyed by all, especially the competitors!

Within the next few years we hope to build this tournament into a major event that is renowned throughout the UK and Europe, and brings hundreds of competitors to Thanet.
Proceeds from this tournament and any future fundraising is being put towards the ever-increasing costs of sending the MWTA students to International tournaments such as the
European Championships in Croatia and two World Championships in Austria and Spain later this year. MWTA look to sponsor as many students as possible, availing local people the opportunity to bring more success to the area.
