MWTA Members In Canada

During the latter half of 2006 two members of Master Wolf’s Taekwon-Do Academies – Debbie and Joe Bathurst - visited another ITF club whilst on their vacation in Canada. Joe has kindly written a report about their visit …

Last year, my wife Debbie and I went on Holiday to Western Canada. Whilst we were there, we met up with an ITF club who let us join in one of their evening training sessions.
The club was really friendly and everyone made us feel very welcome. We had been in contact with Mr Ottesen - the Technical Director of Freedom Taekwon-Do Schools. At the time of our visit, Mr. Ottesen was at a seminar in Japan, and so his wife led the session.
It was very similar to one of our own - in fact, we were both struck by just how alike our clubs were! At the start, everyone formally introduced themselves, we then ran through a warm-up, patterns, theoretical knowledge and then some self-defense skills. This last part was really interesting, and we both learned a lot from the whole evening. We were also really impressed with everyone's skill level and theoretical knowledge.
At the end of the session, we presented Mrs. Ottesen with a Master Wolf’s Academies dobok for her husband, and she reciprocated by presenting us with a dobok, hooded top and a polo shirt.

We had a great time and were really touched by the warmth and generosity our new friends showed us that evening. We just hope that at some point in the future, we can return the kindness that was shown to us in Prince George, British Columbia.
